Yes, we know the 2025 season just ended, but it's never too early to look towards the future. Thanks to the team over at FanDuel, some odds are already here and people can't wait to see Ohio State and Texas go to battle on Sept. 12 in Week 2.

Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith sends stern warning to everyone for next season

After humbling Arch Manning last August, the Buckeyes are ready to do the same once again next season. Leading up to that showdown, though, the Buckeyes have been given some extra motivation thanks to the oddsmakers. Yup, Ohio State will enter that matchup as a small underdog:

Ohio State football has opened as a small underdog against Texas in Week 2

With Texas being the home team, sure, we understand why they might be favorites here. However, we're not buying into the Texas hype like so many others are. Also, we're not Manning haters or anything, but he's again the Heisman favorite long before the season starts?

He sure is. That was also the case last year, but Manning didn't even come close to living up to the hype. Instead, Fernando Mendoza had a stretch to remember, winning the Heisman and leading the Indiana Hoosiers to the natty glory. That was something we didn't see coming.

Come 2026, Ohio State is going to want to wipe away the bad memories of how things ended for them not long ago. The loss to Indiana in the Big Ten title game was brutal, and then things were made worse with Miami and Mario Cristobal stunning OSU in the College Football Playoff.

That's all in the past and after adding some needed help via the transfer portal, it's all business for Ohio State. Spring ball is sneaking up on us somehow and we'll get a sneak peak at what this group will be able to accomplish in '26. On the list is an 'upset' win in Austin, as Texas won't be ready for what's coming in early September.
