Ohio State fans are hoping Cristobal doesn't pull this off.

With 12 commits on board for the 2027 class, Ohio State and Ryan Day are cooking and the haul is 100 percent highlighted by 5-star pass-rusher DJ Jacobs. The Georgia product has been committed to the Buckeyes for quite some time and with Wyatt Smith Columbus-bound too, the hope is the two can work wonders together down the road for Day and Matt Patricia.

However, Miami and Mario Cristobal aren't slowing down with their efforts to flip the elite playmaker and they're getting some help from Donte Wright too. The 5-star cornerback, who recently flipped to The U from Georgia, didn't hide his feelings on Jacobs on social media, making it clear he wants him Miami-bound as well. This may just be one post, but it adds to the worries here for the Buckeyes in trying to hold on to Jacobs:

5-star Miami commit Donte Wright has his attention on flipping Ohio State pledge DJ Jacobs

Jacobs is the cream of the crop for the '27 group, as he's ranked five stars, the No. 1 pass-rusher in the country and No. 1 player overall nationally. This was considered a generational get, as the 6-5, 235-pounder has 38 total offers to his name. Ohio State won this recruiting battle over Alabama, Auburn, Florida, State, LSU, Georgia, Miami and others.

However, plenty of teams continue to push to get him to change his mind, with Oregon and Miami at the top of the list. Miami legend Jason Taylor is running the point for the Canes here, which might only turn Jacobs' head a little bit more too. Despite that, there's a reason Jacobs committed to Ohio State in the first place.

Ohio State and Day did a sensational job with their pitch to Jacobs and they've been showing him a ton of love in recent months as well. Originally, he gave Ohio State the good news on Dec. 29 and nothing has changed there in terms of his status. Still, with so many other powerhouses not giving up, it's a bit alarming.

With Miami in particular, Cristobal has been on a recruiting tear this cycle as well, and he'd love nothing more than to stick it to the Buckeyes. That's something Day likely has in the back of his mind, but he's going to do everything he can to make sure Jacobs doesn't have any second thoughts. Ohio State holds two 5-star commits in Jacobs and wideout Jamier Brown.

With Smith being a recent pledge too, the thought of those two going after quarterbacks in the future together sure is exciting. It's going to be on Day to make sure that happens, but with Miami coming full steam and Wright getting involved, it may make things a bit more difficult and complicated.
