It doesn't feel like DJ Jacobs' recruitment will truly be over until he officially signs his paperwork in December.
The 5-star edge rusher from the Atlanta suburbs committed to Ohio State during the Christmas holidays, but he has remained steadfast in keeping his recruitment open and exploring some of the other programs that have been heavily involved in his recruitment up to this point.Â
Jacobs' recruitment has been active enough that 247Sports' national recruiting director Tom Loy believes that a flip will be in play as the year moves forward.

"I think 5-star defensive lineman DJ Jacobs is definitely a guy you've got to watch for a flip down the road. Miami, Oregon, Texas A&M are all in play for the No. 1 player in the country, but Ohio State still feels like they're still going to keep him in the fold," Loy said.
DJ Jacobs remains a big question mark among Ohio State commits
There is a little bit to unpack with Jacobs' recruitment and Loy tries to do it in a short clip, mentioning how torn Jacobs was when he made the announcement and that he waited until the last minute to call Ryan Day and tell him the decision. Miami has long been thought to be the Buckeyes' top competition for Jacobs, but neither Oregon nor Texas A&M can be counted out considering their vast resources.Â
"I think this one has a long way to go, and it's interesting how this will impact top 100 defensive lineman Dawson Jacobs, his brother in the 2028 class," Loy adds.
The addition of Jacobs' younger brother adds another twist to this recruitment because DJ Jacobs can simply take additional visits and do it under the guise of joining his younger brother.
This recruitment is going to be one to watch all summer and into the fall. Luckily, Day and most of the Buckeyes staff aren't new to these sorts of fierce recruiting battles. Expect Ohio State to do what it takes to keep their grip on Jacobs until the ink dries on his letter of intent.Â
