The stunning details of the ending of Sherrone Moore's career in Ann Arbor are pouring out as the Ohio State Buckeyes prepare for a Cotton Bowl Classic showdown with either the No. 7 TAMU Aggies or No. 10 Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff.
TTUN's world is seemingly falling. The worst thing that happened to Ohio State this season was losing 13-10 in the Big Ten Championship Game to the Indiana Hoosiers right after losing offensive coordinator Brian Hartline to the USF Bulls' head coaching position.
USA Today's Blake Toppmeyer coldly described the gulf between the two programs and claimed there's never been a better time to be a Buckeye fan amid the unfortunate situation involving Moore, his family, and a staffer.
"As Ryan Day prepared for the College Football Playoff, Sherrone Moore sat in jail, fired and disgraced, on a cold night in Michigan. Before the Michigan coach wound up defrocked, he lost to Ohio State in his final game," Toppmeyer prefaced before saying, "There’s never been a better time to be a Buckeye fan."
"Assault allegations are no laughing matter, but rivalries being what they are, Bucknuts must be howling at this latest scandal to rock the rival Wolverines. Jail to the cheaters.
"The next time Ohio State’s lunatic fringe wants to hit the warpath because Day hasn’t delivered an undefeated season, chill for a minute. Appreciate that the only drama surrounding Day this season was a doctored photo that surfaced online and briefly made us wonder whether Day had pierced his chest. (Nope, just the internet being the internet.)"
No Ohio State fan should want what's happened to Michigan
Not like this.
Watching the Wolverines crumble so controversially is wholly unsatisfying. This is a sad situation for everyone involved. The rivalry should be on hold when real life intervenes in such a scary and tragic way.
Recruiting violations and bizarre Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandals are one thing. Everything is too heavy right now as the College Football world looks ahead to the FCS postseason and the Army-Navy game this Saturday and the CFP next Friday and Saturday.
Let's hope everyone comes out on the other side of this in the best possible place. "The Game" is the last thing anyone should worry about at this point.
