Every year, the Ohio State football team's goals are clear. They want to beat Michigan, win a Big Ten Championship, and win a national championship. Those are the three goals that the Buckeyes have every single year. Under Ryan Day, they haven't been able to achieve all three in the same season.
Of course, the most important goal that the Ohio State Buckeyes have every year is winning a national title. That happened last in 2024 after they went on one of the best four-game runs in college football history. In that season, they had an impact freshman who played a massive part in their run.
That freshman was Jeremiah Smith. Now that Smith is an upperclassman and in his final season, he is trying to win another title. If Ohio State is going to win another championship, they are going to need the help of true freshman receiver Chris Henry Jr.
Ohio State receiver Chris Henry Jr. is a huge key to a title run
With Carnell Tate now with the Tennessee Titans, Ohio State needs a second receiver to step up behind Smith. They don't have a logical player to step into his void. Brandon Inniss will be a senior, but he hasn't done much of anything in his career that would lead anyone to believe he can be the second option.
That's where Henry Jr. comes in. Smith needs someone on the opposite side of the field who can win matchups so that he isn't double-teamed every single game. Henry Jr.'s size and catching ability make him the most likely player to be a key freshman during a title run. He was a five-star recruit for a reason.
The early part of the Fall will determine which receiver Julian Sayin is able to trust the most besides Smith. Finding a second receiver might be the biggest key to this offense playing at a championship level. Henry Jr. has a chance to be the next great Ohio State receiver.
