The Ohio State football program came into the 2026 NFL Draft with some of the most talented players in the entire draft. They all helped the team win a national championship in 2024 and make the CFP again in 2025. Now, they get a chance to realize their dreams of playing in the NFL.
After the Jets didn't take one of those Ohio State Buckeyes with the second pick, the first Buckeye off the board had to wait a little bit to hear his name called by Roger Goodell. Still, it wasn't too long, as the Tennessee Titans selected Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick.
Taking Tate is a bit of a surprise. The top three defensive players were all expected to go ahead of Tate. Yet, the Titans decided that they needed to draft another weapon to help out Cam Ward. He will now instantly become the number one option for the Titans moving forward.
Tennessee Titans take Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate
Tate is by far the best receiver in the draft. His ability to catch the ball down the field is really going to help Ward. He is also able to catch the ball in contested catch situations, which he excels at. He is now going to have the opportunity to become a star in Tennessee.
It's shocking that Tate was taken before Caleb Downs, Arvell Reese, and Sonny Styles. Yet, he is going to be a really good player for Tennessee, as long as the offensive line is able to give Ward some time to throw him the ball. That will be the concern for the Titans moving forward.
Tate can now show what he can do as a number-one receiver. He is going to have a long, productive NFL career for a franchise that is in desperate need of some wins.
