Tennessee uses absurd tactic to sway recruit to pick them instead of Ohio State

The Ohio State football program has this recruit all but wrapped up, but Tennessee is making a last-ditch effort to land him.

The Ohio State football program usually recruits a couple of high school prospects extremely hard per recruiting class. That's one of the reasons why the Buckeyes have been so successful when it comes to recruiting over the years. That has been the case under Ryan Day, as well.

For the 2027 recruiting class, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been recruiting David Gabriel Georges extremely hard. Other than DJ Jacobs, whom the Buckeyes have already landed a commitment from, Gabriel Georges is the other recruit whom Ohio State has been trying to land.

Gabriel Georges just visited Columbus last weekend and loved it. Because of that, Tennessee is trying to step up its game. They are the other school that Gabriel Georges is considering. They have decided to pull a couple of ridiculous tactics in order to land him.

Tennessee gets desperate to land David Gabriel Georges over Ohio State

The Volunteers had "The Rock" painted in a way to try to show how much they want to land DGG. Take a look at it below, as they did this for his official visit this weekend.

That's not the only thing that the Volunteers decided to do. They also brought in Alvin Kamara, an alum, to try to convince Gabriel Georges to play for Tennessee instead of the Buckeyes.

Tennessee can trot out all of the special things they want. They still are not going to be able to sway him away from playing in Columbus. He has loved everything that the Buckeyes have shown him over the last couple of years. Ohio State also has a great history of producing NFL-level talent.

Meanwhile, the Vols don't have nearly the same tradition. Other than Kamara, they don't have many recent NFL running backs. Ohio State has several recent running backs. They have also had several backs win the Heisman Trophy, which certainly helps their chances, as well.

Ohio State shouldn't worry about Tennessee's latest recruiting tactics

Despite the fact that Tennessee gets the last official visit, Ohio State is not concerned about what is going on. They feel comfortable about the effort that they have put forth into recruiting him. He is one of the best running back recruits in quite a while, so Ohio State has pulled out all of the stops.

Once this official visit is over, the Bucekyes will have a better idea of where they stand with Gabriel Georges. Ryan Day might have to reach deep into his bag in order to do anything more than what Ohio State has already done. There's not much more they can add.

It would be shocking if Gabriel Georges were to pick the Vols instead of the Bucks. If that were to happen, Ohio State would have to pivot when it comes to the running back they would take in the 2027 recruiting class. Ohio State doesn't really have much of a backup plan.

They do have a running back visiting this weekend, but they would like to add him as a depth piece. DDG is the one they really want.
