The Ohio State football program rarely pulls out all the stops for a recruit. There is about one recruit per class that the Buckeyes try everything they can to get. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time, the Buckeyes are able to get it done.
For the 2027 recruiting class, the Ohio State Buckeyes have chosen five-star running back recruit David Gabriel Georges as that recruit. He is a really good player and would be the first five-star running back recruit that the Buckeyes have had since TreVeyon Henderson joined the program.
Gabriel Georges visited Columbus last weekend and had a great time. He talked about it afterwards, and things seemed to go well. Ohio State got a second prediction to sign him. Now, just a few days later, it seems they have him all but sealed up when December rolls around.
Ohio State football receives third prediction to land David Gabriel Georges
The Buckeyes have now received a third prediction to land Gabriel Georges, according to Rivals. At this point, it seems like they have gotten everything except a commitment at this point. While he has other visits scheduled, Ohio State is really just competing against Tennessee for him.
Gabriel Georges will be in Knoxville this weekend. If they don't impress him enough, there's a chance that Gabriel Georges decides to commit to Ohio State almost right after that visit. That is not a guarantee by any stretch, but the Buckeyes are hoping that could be the case.
So why does Ohio State want him so badly? Because he's really freaking good. He barrels into defenders, and they bounce off him like pinballs. Once he gets space in the second level, he's as good as gone. He's the number-one-ranked running back in the country for a reason.
Ohio State would be a dominant offensive force with David Gabriel Georges
If the Buckeyes do pick up a commitment from Gabriel Georges, the offense next season would become extremely hard to stop. Even though he wouldn't be the starter right away, he would probably still play around 50 percent of the snaps behind Bo Jackson.
There is still a lot of work to do in order to secure a commitment from him. In the day and age of NIL, nothing is certain until a recruit's name is written down on a contract, which is what they sign now instead of a National Letter of Intent. Once that contract is signed, the Buckeyes can breathe.
Even if Ryan Day and his staff get a commitment from Gabriel Georges soon, they will have to keep recruiting him until December. Another program could swoop in with a crazy NIL offer at any time. It likely won't be Tennessee, as they have too much money tied up in a player who might not play for them.
Expect Ohio State to get some commitments in the next few weeks, even if one of them isn't from Gabriel Georges. Other recruits are getting very comfortable with the Buckeyes.
