The Ohio State football program hosted one of the top recruits on its board last weekend for an official visit. Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges visited Columbus last weekend, and the visit seemed to go well. In fact, Gabriel Georges seemed to really enjoy his time on campus.
Gabriel Georges is the top recruit left on Ohio State's board. The Buckeyes have been trying to land him for a couple of years now. He is the top running back recruit in the country for the 2027 recruiting class. He is choosing between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Tennessee.
This weekend, Gabriel Georges is visiting the Volunteers. They had a very desperate tactic to try to sway him to go to Tennessee. Even so, the Buckeyes still feel confident about their ability to win his recruitment. Yet, the Vols have a renewed sense of confidence that they can bring him in.
Tennessee thinks they have a real shot to steal David Gabriel Georges from Ohio State
After half of the visit was over, the Volunteers got a seemingly positive review from Rivals about how things are going. According to Chad Simmons, the Vols feel that they have a real shot to bring him in.
"The battle is far from over, and a final decision won't likely come until later this month or around the start of July, but Tennessee continues to make a strong push. I am close to putting a pick on the Vols, but will let the visit finish out before making that decision," Simmons wrote.
If a Vols fan were to read that, they would feel really good about their shot to land DDG. Of course, the Buckeyes still have to feel great about their shot to sign him later this year. Every indication they have had with him is that he wants to sign with the Buckeyes.
The Ohio State football program should still feel good about landing David Gabriel Georges
Ohio State won't know whether or not they will be bringing in DDG until the end of the month at the earliest. Yet, the Buckeyes feel great about their chances of landing him. They should. They have done everything possible to give him a positive experience in Columbus.
Not just that, but they have been extremely strong with their NIL offer involving him. Ohio State is doing everything it possibly can to sign him. This is one of the two recruits they have decided to go all in with, the other being DJ Jacobs. Jacobs is a five-star edge recruit.
It's clear that Ryan Day sees a lot in both Jacobs and Gabriel Jacobs. Those are the two high school prospects who he thinks will impact the team the most over the next few years. Gabriel Georges would be the first five-star running back recruit Ohio State has brought in since TreVeyon Henderson.
Tennessee fans shouldn't get that excited. DDG wore Ohio State gear to his visit in Columbus. Since he's been in Knoxville, he hasn't worn a single thing from Tennessee.
