The greatest four-game run in college football history started when the Ohio State football team annihilated Tennessee in the Shoe. That 42-17 bludgeoning was the catalyst for the Buckeyes to win the national championship. The Buckeyes were up 21-0 before the Vols even knew what happened.
Beating the Vols on the field was incredibly satisfying, especially after all of the "Neyland North" trash talk that fans did. The Ohio State Buckeyes sent them back down to Knoxville, sad, and fans have been furious at them ever since. That emotion has now spilled over onto the recruiting trail.
Right now, the Buckeyes and the Volunteers are battling for five-star running back recruit David Gabriel Georges. He is the recruit Ohio State has spent the most time on this cycle. Now, Tennessee fans are getting desperate on the message boards.
Tennessee fan suggests donations to help Vols land David Gabriel Georges over Ohio State
One message board supporter wants the entire board to donate some money in order to up his NIL offering to something that the Buckeyes can't match. He claims that if everyone on the board donates $10, then it would add up to an extra $2.5 million that Ohio State couldn't reach.
Tennessee Volunteer fans have come up with a GENIUS idea to help them beat Ohio State for 5⭐️ RB David Gabriel-Georges 👀

This fan claims that if all 2500 people on the message board donate $10, they will have an extra $2.5 million to throw at DGG. By our math, it seems he… pic.twitter.com/n7F2ysD7Hi
Obviously, this is not something that would ever happen. It's hilarious to see some fans are desperate enough to resort to something like this. Ohio State fans wouldn't need to do something like this in order to land a recruit. They have plenty of other things to offer recruits.
It's pretty clear that the Buckeyes are the favorites to land Gabriel Georges. It would be surprising at this point if he ended up picking the Vols. He technically has Ole Miss on his list as well, but it's really down to Ohio State and Tennessee. It wouldn't be shocking to see him make a decision soon.
The Ohio State football team is slowly building its 2027 recruiting class
The Buckeyes still have only 15 commits to the 2027 recruiting class. That number won't stay there for long, as they will end up adding some really strong recruits before December rolls around. DDG isn't the only five-star recruit who the Buckeyes could end up adding before it's all said and done.
Marcus Fakatou seems destined to head to Columbus. Monshun Sales could still decide to head to Ohio State, as well. They already have DJ Jacobs and Jamier Brown committed, as well. Landing five five-star recruits in a single recruiting class would be crazy.
Of those I just mentioned, Sales is the least likely to pick the Buckeyes. He might end up choosing Indiana instead, which would certainly hurt. Losing an elite receiver recruit to a Big Ten opponent is less than ideal, especially one who just won a national championship.
Buckeye fans are expecting greatness from this recruiting class, even though the class started out slowly. They still have a few months to get more commitments, and kids don't need to sign until December. Fans will likely be happy where this class ends up.
