As the month of June has progressed, the Ohio State football program has been getting plenty of predictions to land some of the best recruits in the country. Of course, predictions don't mean much without those prospects actually committing. The Buckeyes have had issues getting those.

Last week, Ohio State finally got a commitment in the month of June, adding a cornerback. That is a position of need for the Buckeyes, which helps them immensely on the defensive side of the ball. Of course, the Ohio State Buckeyes look like they are getting more help on that side of the ball soon.

Five-star defensive line recruit Marcus Fakatou has already visited Columbus. He seems to like what Larry Johnson has to offer him as his potential defensive line coach. Ohio State has several predictions to land him. Now, the Buckeyes have gotten another one, seemingly securing that they will land him.

According to Rivals, the Buckeyes now have six predictions to land Fakatou. That seems to mean that unless something catastrophic happens, Ohio State will be getting Fakatou's commitment. Other than Ohio State, he has narrowed his list down to Texas and Georgia.

If Johnson is able to land Fakatou, he would be the second five-star recruit on the defensive line in the 2027 recruiting class. DJ Jacobs is the other one, as he is the top edge recruit in the country. Adding Fakatou to the fold would give Ohio State a deadly front line.

Next season, Ohio State will be losing quite a few defensive linemen. The ones they grabbed from the Transfer Portal only have one or two years of eligibility left, so they need to restock up front. Fakatou is certainly good enough to play right away, and that's something Ohio State has communicated to him.

Ohio State has to figure out the rest of its recruiting class

The 2027 recruiting class is far from totally put together. Day still has only garnered 14 commitments for the class. Right now, the class would be the lowest-ranked class that Ohio State has had in almost a decade. Day knows that is not acceptable, so there is still work to be done.

It seems inevitable that the Buckeyes will scoop up Fakatou. Once he's in tow, they could add a five-star receiver, as well as a couple more cornerbacks. There is a chance that they add another quarterback to the class after it seems that Day is not infatuated with Brady Edmunds any longer.

As far as when Fakatou could make his final decision, that much is unclear. With how many predictions have come in for Ohio State to get him, it will likely be relatively soon. He doesn't have any more official visits scheduled at the moment, so he should make a commitment sooner rather than later.

Ohio State should feel great about possibly landing him soon. Other elite recruits will likely soon follow.
