To start the season, everyone was excited about what Legend Bey could bring to the Ohio State football program. His shiftiness and ability to make guys miss with the ball in his hands are valuable skills. He showed that in the opener against Ball State, running for a spectacular touchdown.

That was the high moment for the true freshman. The low moment was getting suspended before the season even started. Now, he's not even seeing the field. He hasn't played in the last two games and only played a few snaps against Kent State. Ryan Day addressed whether Bey will actually play on Saturday against Maryland, and it's still a bit unclear.

Ryan Day comments on whether or not Legend Bey will play this weekend vs. Maryland

During his weekly press conference, Day was asked about Bey's availability for this weekend, while also talking about Khary Wilder.

"Nobody wants to get these guys on the field more than we do. But we all have a responsibility. So, again, put it on the coaches. It's our job as coaches to get them to where they need to be. But it's also the players' responsibility to make sure they're doing that. If we can have a good week here, then I'm hoping we can see those guys on the field."

Why does Day refuse to play two guys who can clearly help the team? Wilder has been one of the most impactful defensive linemen every time he has been on the field. He looks much more ready to play than Bey does. Bey still makes mistakes, such as his special teams blunders in the Ball State game.

Bey seems to be in the doghouse, so I understand not playing him. He's a true freshman who seems to have had multiple issues over the last few months. If a message needs to be sent, I understand. He seemed happy, like any other player on the sidelines when the Buckeyes beat Iowa, though. He seems to be taking things well.

Ohio State should get multiple freshmen on the field against Maryland

The Ohio State Buckeyes get to play a bad team this weekend in the Maryland Terrapins. They are massive favorites, so they should be able to get multiple freshmen on the field in this game. It would be shocking if the starters play too deep into the second half of this one.

This would be a great spot to get both Bey and Wilder plenty of snaps. Bey needs to get at least five carries in this game. Even if it's late in the game with backups from both teams on the field, he needs to see some snaps. Getting the coaching staff to build some more trust in him is important.

Ohio State is one of the best offenses in the country right now, even without the ability to run the ball for explosive plays. Bey is someone who can help with that issue. If they are able to get him going to complement the passing game, Ohio State will be in a great spot down the stretch.
