The Ohio State football team just finished signing its 2026 recruiting class. While they might add one more recruit to that class, they still sit sixth in the recruiting rankings. It would be the worst recruiting class under Ryan Day that the Buckeyes have had since his first year as a head coach.

Ohio State still has a chance to add to that recruiting class in a big way. Now that Michigan has decided to fire Sherrone Moore, the Buckeyes might be able to poach some recruits from TTUN after this decision has been made. In fact, there are two they should target in the next few weeks.

1. Carter Meadows

Five-star defensive lineman Carter Meadows should be Ryan Day's first call. He was being heavily recruited by Larry Johnson and the Ohio State Buckeyes before he decided to sign with Michigan. With Moore being let go, Johnson should give Meadows another call.

Meadows is rated as the sixth-best player in the country for the 2026 class. Bringing him in would be a massive victory that was unexpected just a few days ago. Meadows is good enough to play right away, especially with Ohio State losing so many defensive linemen next season.

2. Savion Hiter

The other recruit that Ohio State should look at bringing in is Savion Hiter. Hiter is listed as the top running back in the 2026 class, and is someone the Buckeyes recruited hard until the very end. He ended up signing with TTUN, but Ohio State has a need at running back in this class.

Bringing Hiter into the running back room would give Ohio State a lot of options heading into next season, with Bo Jackson still the incumbent starter. Adding a dynamic playmaker like Hiter from the running back position would really give Day a home-run threat.

These are the two recruits that Ohio State should target if they decide they want to leave. Recruits have a 30-day period to leave a program once a coach has been fired. Of course, these recruits could also leave once the transfer portal window opens in January.
