The month of June ended up being the best recruiting month for the Ohio State football team so far. After a very slow start to the month, the Buckeyes added several recruits in a couple of different classes. Now, they are leaving the month with a ton of momentum.

Tim Walton got things started off by landing a couple of corners in the 2027 class. Cortez Hankton landed one of the best receiver recruits in the 2029 class, as well. Larry Johnson ended up getting the best recruit of them all by landing five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou.

Fakatou committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes, giving them two five-star recruits on the defensive line. His answer on why he chose Ohio State over Texas and Georgia shows why the Buckeyes aren't done grabbing five-star recruits in this cycle.

Marcus Fakatou shows why Ohio State will be getting more five-star recruits in 2027

After his commitment, Fakatou explained why he will be playing in Columbus next season.

"Coach Larry Johnson, with his development that he's done over there with the Bosa brothers, Chase Young, Kayden McDonald, that all just spoke volumes to me. At the end of the day, God is important to me when I was looking for a school, and he (Johnson) is also big on his faith. Plus the development over there, I think that just played a big role when it came down to where I was picking."

That is why the Buckeyes will be getting more five-star recruits this cycle. The coaches care about the person that the recruit is, not just the kind of player they are. That level of connection is why the Buckeyes have done so well in recruiting in the Ryan Day era.

Fakatou didn't just love that from Johnson. He loves the development, and Buckeye fans will love his other quote on what they will be getting.

I think one thing I can say is not only are they going to get someone phenomenal on the field, but they're going to get someone phenomenal off the field. That's important, just because I think your character matters most, and then obviously your skills on the field. They're going to get someone who plays hard on the field and who gives to the community off of the field."

Ohio State could grab two more five-star recruits before the class is done

There is a good chance that the Buckeyes could end up adding at least two more five-star recruits before Signing Day. Getting Fakatou was expected, but they could also add Monshun Sales. Sales is choosing between the Buckeyes and the Hoosiers, and Ohio State is still in that fight.

David Gabriel Georges is the recruit whom Ryan Day and his staff have spent the most time on. They feel great about their chances of landing him, as well. He will be committing at the end of July. Ohio State is battling Tennessee for him, although Ole Miss is technically a school he has on his list.
