The Ohio State football team has the best recruiting weekend of the year so far
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program had an extremely productive weekend on the recruiting trail. A lot of that stemmed from the fact that they hosted a bunch of recruits for their open practice on Saturday. They were able to capitalize on their Spring practice to land some commitments.
We told you about the Buckeyes landing Tarvos Alford yesterday. The linebacker recruit was the first of them to make a decision. Three other recruits have decided to commit to the Ohio State football program since then. It has been a really great recruiting weekend for them.
Ohio State also got a commitment from wide receiver De'zie Jones out of New Jersey. He is a four-star receiver and becomes the sole receiver in the class after they lost a commitment from that position last week. He stands at 6 feet tall and 180 pounds and is one of the fastest guys in the class.
The Buckeyes also got a commitment from defensive end London Merritt. Meritt is a four-star defensive end from IMG Academy. We told you about him on Friday when he committed. The Buckeyes are starting to build depth on the defensive line.
On Sunday afternoon, the Buckeyes landed another defensive back for their class. DeShawn Stewart, a safety from New Jersey, also decided to commit. He is a four-star prospect and becomes the first safety for the Buckeyes in a 2025 class that already has three corners in the class.
Ohio State is rocketing up the recruiting rankings as well. Even before they add Stewart to the fold, the Buckeyes have moved back up to having the third-best class in the country. They are nowhere near done either. The Buckeyes have a lot of work still to do.
Keep an eye on the Spring Game as well. That could end up resulting in a fair number of commitments as well.
