Stop us if you've heard this before, but Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has no plans to leave Columbus while he's playing at the college level. After a brilliant freshman season, rumors were flying that Miami was going to essentially give him a blank check to make plays for Carson Beck.

Nope, not going to happen. On more than one occasion, Smith threw cold water all over the speculation that he was going to be one and done with the Buckeyes after he helped the team win the natty this past winter.

If you needed a reminder of Smith staying loyal to the reigning champs, he recently provided it. In a since-deleted social media post, Smith clapped back at a Miami fan who had some choice words for him not playing for his hometown program. To sum things up, Smith told the guy to stop wasting his time in focusing his attention on the wideout one day playing for the Canes:

Jeremiah Smith has once again thrown cold water on any Miami transfer rumors

Open and shut case. During the winter, there indeed was a ton of buzz that maybe, just maybe Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff would be able to change Smith's mind. However, he indeed calmed plenty of nervous Ohio State fans by letting everyone know he wasn't going anywhere.

Smith is coming off an unreal true freshman season, with the youngster fully living up to the 5-star hype he had coming out of high school. In 2024, Smith posted 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns - he averaged an impressive 17.3 yards per catch.

What's he going to be able to get done for an encore this fall? Another huge season will be on the way for him, but this time Julian Sayin will be throwing him the rock instead of Will Howard. Smith is a generational talent and even more video game-type numbers will be recorded. And in case you needed a reminder, he'll be putting on a show for Ohio State and no one else. That won't change this year or next year before he's off to the league.
