Ohio State's first College GameDay appearance comes as no surprise

The Ohio State football program is usually a mainstay on College GameDay. Even after the TV contracts changed, the Buckeyes have still been on the show multiple times. In fact, last year saw Lee Corso have his final show ever at the Shoe. He put on Brutus one final time and was proven right.

While Corso is now gone, the show continues on. The Buckeyes are still one of the best and most exciting programs in the country. Therefore, College GameDay is still going to showcase Ohio State. In fact, there are a few dates in which the Ohio State Buckeyes could be featured.

Week 1 of GameDay has already been announced. That site has been set as a game between Clemson and LSU, which will take place in Baton Rouge. Week 2 has also been announced, and it will be in Austin to watch the Buckeyes take on the Texas Longhorns.

Ohio State football will be on College GameDay for Texas showdown

GameDay announced its decision on social media, which has the Buckeyes being shown to ESPN audiences again.

With this being the case, there is some speculation as to what network this game will be on. FOX claimed this game last year, which prevented Ohio State from having a home night game. With this game being in Austin, there is a good chance that it will be on ESPN or ABC.

In fact, it has been announced as a 7:30 pm kickoff. This game becomes much harder to manage for Ohio State. The Longhorns are already going to be hard to beat in Austin, even if the Buckeyes have beaten them two straight years. The atmosphere will be more charged up with it taking place at night.

Ohio State football has a chance to meet the pressure of a night game on the road

At the same time, the Buckeyes have a unique opportunity with this game being on the road. Winning a road night game against one of the best teams in the SEC would give Ohio State a great data point on its resume. It would give them some wiggle room for future losses, as well.

Julian Sayin has already shown that he can beat the Longhorns, even without Jeremiah Smith being much of a factor. Matt Patricia created a great game plan last year to stop Arch Manning. He will likely have another one set up to slow him down again.

Ohio State's defense led pretty much every statistical category last season. Even though the Buckeyes lost three first-round picks from that defense, Ohio State still feels that they have enough talent to be an elite defense. That will be tested right away in Week 2.

The Big Ten has proven that it is the best conference in the country. Even one of the best SEC coaches agrees. Ohio State can drive that point home if they beat Texas again. A 14-7 victory was how the Buckeyes started their season last year. Expect them to score more points this time.
