Jimmy Kalis is going to be a Buckeye!
The four-star offensive lineman from Pittsburgh made the declaration this evening, choosing Ohio State over Georgia, Clemson, Texas, Miami, and a host of others. 4-star offensive tackle Jimmy Kalis commits to Ohio State
This is the kind of recruiting momentum that Ryan Day wants heading into Saturday's spring game. The campus is expected to be buzzing with top targets in town to get an early glimpse of what the Buckeyes will look like this season.
Kalis joins four-star tackle Kellen Wymer and three-star prospects Mason Witt and Brody McNeel in the offensive line class. Day wanted to change the overall makeup of that room after the unit struggled to contain Indiana and Miami last season. Kalis, who had 46 total offers to his name, is listed at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, and every lineman committed to the Buckeyes is at least 6-5 or taller.
The big-bodied blue chipper is on campus for the second time this month. His experience in Columbus a couple of weeks ago seemed to put Ohio State over the top. He told Garrick Hodge of Bucknuts that the culture Day has worked to build over the years was something that stood out.
"I feel like every time I go up there, you just see new things. The one thing that's always attracted me back is the coaching staff," Kalis said to Hodge. "They do a great job. I enjoy spending time seeing the players practice. I think Coach Day has a well-built culture, and you feel it every time you go back up."
Ohio State currently has its 2027 class rated in the top 10. Kalis' commitment gives the Buckeyes ten current pledges in the class, but Day hopes that the weekend will bring even more good news on the recruiting front.
