The Ohio State football program had a horrible losing streak to TTUN until last season. The Buckeyes had lost four straight games to them, spanning two different head coaches. Ohio State lost to both Jim Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore in the rivalry before the 2025 season.
Ryan Day's resume needed a win over Michigan with his own recruited players. That was the biggest flaw remaining on his resume after winning the national championship in 2024. The Ohio State Buckeyes did just that, crushing TTUN 27-9. It was a game that wasn't even close.
None of the players on the roster had ever received a pair of gold pants for beating TTUN. That is a gift that is given to players who are able to win the best rivalry in sports. On Tuesday, the Buckeyes finally received that gift and got their reward for taking down Michigan. One offensive lineman had an epic quote about getting them.

Several players were elated to receive their gift for the first time. For everyone involved, it was the first time that they had seen a pair of gold pants that they got to keep forever.

Offensive lineman Luke Montgomery gave an epic quote about receiving his first pair of gold pants.
"I might melt this into a grill."
Montgomery was obviously joking, but it underscores just how happy he was to finally get a win against his hated rivals. Montgomery is an Ohio kid, so he has hated TTUN for quite a long time. To finally receive a gift that is a reward for all of his hard work is nice.
The rest of the Buckeyes are hoping to get another pair of gold pants this year. Michigan has a new head coach after the meltdown Moore had, but Ohio State still feels they are the better team. The work they do now in Spring will show up in late November.
