The Ohio State football team already has two elite defensive line recruits in the 2027 class committed. Larry Johnson has been able to land two five-star prospects. Both DJ Jacobs and Marcus Fakatou have decided to commit to the Buckeyes.
Johnson's ability to bring in top-tier recruits at his age continues to be amazing. Adding those five-star recruits is great for next season. Of course, the Buckeyes are not finished on the trail. Ryan Day and his staff are very happy with Johnson's work. His work isn't done.
Karlos May, a four-star defensive line recruit, is heavily considering the Ohio State Buckeyes. In fact, he has already received two crystal ball predictions to go to Columbus. Now, May has received another prediction, which seems to solidify that he will pick the Buckeyes.
The Ohio State football program receives another crystal ball prediction for Karlos May
With May receiving three crystal ball predictions to head into Columbus, it seems almost certain that they have him sewn up. May stands at 6'2.5 and 330 pounds, so he would be the perfect defensive tackle. He would be an excellent addition to the Ohio State defensive line.
May is from the state of Alabama, and Auburn is the other team that is the biggest threat to Ohio State landing him. It doesn't seem like they are much of a threat, though. Ohio State is going to show that Columbus is the best spot for his future. May looks like he might agree.
Right now, May is expected to announce his commitment decision on July 18, so Ohio State will only have to wait a couple of weeks for his ultimate decision. Still, they feel great about what they have put in front of him and the resources they have invested in his recruitment.
Ohio State could end up with a top-five recruiting class for 2027
Adding May would give them another chance to have a top-five recruiting class by the time it's all over. At this point, anything less than a top-five class for the Buckeyes is considered a disappointment. He has done a great job of recruiting since becoming a head coach.
Ohio State is still hoping to add a couple of five-star recruits to the fray, as well. There are a couple of guys Day has his eye on as potential flip targets. While they likely won't flip a key quarterback recruit, they can still bring in a couple of other prospects who have committed to other programs.
While it appears extremely unlikely that Ohio State will win a recruiting national championship, a top-five class would be a good result for them. They have built some depth at key spots with this class. However, they still need to get more cornerbacks into this class.
After a slow start to the 2027 class, the Buckeyes have really turned things around. Day has done a good job remaining patient. It's something fans need to do with this class, too. Things are not over, and some really good prospects could commit this month.
