The Ohio State football program fell short of its goals in 2025. They were only able to accomplish one of them, which was beating TTUN. That beatdown helped finish off a 12-0 regular season, but the Buckeyes were not able to win a Big Ten title or a national championship.

Only accomplishing one of their goals put a bad taste in their mouths. Julian Sayin was a Heisman Finalist in his first season as a starting quarterback, but he still wasn't able to win the two games that mattered at the end of the season. Yet, his head coach has a lot of faith in him.

Ryan Day thinks that Sayin can be one of the best players in the country again next year. In fact, he had a lot of praise for him during a recent interview with 97.1 the Fan. His words should excite fans as the offseason starts and Spring ball is still a few months away.

Ryan Day gives Julian Sayin monster praise as the leader of Ohio State

Day thinks Sayin is going to have a monster offseason, and that will translate into a great 2026 season.

"Julian is going to have a huge offseason. Julian is really going to dive into this thing and take the next step."

Sayin will be able to have a full offseason as the undisputed starter for the Buckeyes. Last offseason, he was fighting with Lincoln Kienholz for the starting job. Now, Sayin has a chance to not just be the starter, but lead Ohio State to another berth in the 12-team College Football Playoff.

While Sayin lost a lot of depth at the receiver position, he still has Jeremiah Smith as the top receiver on his roster. Smith is still the most dangerous receiver in the country. Sayin just needs more time in the pocket to find him and not get off his deep read as fast as he did in his first year.
