The Ohio State football team has played great for most of this season. In fact, they look better than the team that won the national championship a year ago. Defensively, the Buckeyes lead the nation in most statistical categories. Ohio State became the number-two seed in the College Football Playoff mainly because of Julian Sayin.
Sayin was a fantastic quarterback for the Ohio State. Buckeyes this season as a freshman. He completed over 78 percent of his passes, which led the country. Sayin played so well that he was a Heisman finalist and was invited to New York because of that honor.
During the Big Ten Championship, it was expected that the winner of that game was gong to win the Heisman Trophy. That ended up being the case, as Ohio State fell to Indiana. Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy, but Sayin was wildly disrespected in the final voting.
Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin gets disrespected with final Heisman vote
Mendoza won the award, which was expected. Instead of finishing second in the voting, as many Ohio State fans expected, Sayin finished fourth in the voting. Not only did he finish behind Mendoza, he finished behind Diego Pavia and Jeremiyah Love, which was not expected.
Sayin was wildly disrespected with this Heisman Trophy voting. While he wasn't expected to win, he wasn't expected to finish last among the Finalists invited to New York. He will use this for motivation during the CFP, which should scare fans of other teams invited to the CFP.
Sayin isn't the only Ohio State football player feeling disrespected after postseason awards were given out. The Ohio State Buckeyes might punish other teams after several players were wronged in the voting for some of the individual awards given out.
For fans, this result might better than Sayin winning. He could come out with deadly accuracy that hasn't been seen before in any game this season.
