It wasn't long ago that Georgia was considered the favorite to land 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson, but have things changed a bit there? It sure looks that way. The Ohio State Buckeyes have been on a tear recruiting wise and Atkinson has taken notice.
Not only that, but Ryan Day and his staff have done a fantastic job in letting Atkinson know he's a top priority for them. In an interview with Marc Gilver of The Buckeye Huddle, the stud 'backer didn't hesitate in saying that the Buckeyes are his No. 1 school right now:

Ohio State is the No. 1 school for 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson
"They're the top school on the board," Atkinson said with conviction. "Just because they are. The relationships and everything."
That's the kind of news we love to see. Atkinson is an elite prospect and he's got every powerhouse in the country chasing his commitment. Throughout his recruitment, the 6-2, 210-pounder has picked up 50 offers. He's got strong interest in Ohio State, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, Texas and Alabama.
With Atkinson being a Georgia product, the assumption for a while has been that he'd prioritize staying home to suit up for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. However, the Buckeyes are giving him a lot to think about and they're not taking their foot off the gas in trying to take down UGA and others.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Atkinson is ranked the No. 1 linebacker in the country, No. 1 player from Georgia and the No. 8 prospect nationally. Atkinson is known for being a big-time hitter and he was born to take down quarterbacks.
There's no set date for when he'll shut things down and announce his decision, but Ohio State no question is in a great spot with him now. Smart and other coaches will work to keep trying to turn his head before he ends up committing, but Ohio State is leading this race and others are chasing them. He'd be a monster addition to Ohio State's 2026 class if he gives Day his verbal.
