The Ohio State football program had a lot of questions surrounding it when it came to the hiring of Cortez Hankton. Hankton was replacing Brian Hartline as the wide receivers coach. Fans were worried that he wouldn't be able to recruit and develop receivers at the same level as Hartline.
It's hard to blame them for that line of thinking. Hartline was widely seen as the best recruiter in the country before he took the head coaching job at USF. Hankton has done his best to fill those shoes. He has helped secure two five-star receiver recruits already.
The Buckeyes got Jett Harrison for the 2028 recruiting class and Austin Miller for the 2029 class. Hankton is hoping to land Monshun Sales for the 2027 class, as well. Now, Hankton has received a crystal ball prediction to land another five-star recruit in the 2028 class.
Ohio State gets crystal ball prediction for five-star recruit Braylon Clark
The Ohio State Buckeyes have gotten two crystal ball predictions from Rivals to land five-star receiver recruit Braylon Clark. Clark is listed as the fourth-best receiver in the 2028 recruiting class and is from Charlotte. Adding Clark would give Ohio State two of the four best receivers in the country for 2028.
Clark stands at 6'2.5 and 188 pounds. He has offers from all over the country, but Oregon and Tennessee are the two main schools in competition with the Buckeyes for him. It looks like the Ducks are the school that Ohio State needs to worry about the most.
If Hankton is able to land a commitment from Clark, then all of the fears about his recruiting should be put to rest. Even if he's not able to bring in Sales, he will have a solid pipeline of receivers coming in for the next few years. He can always get receivers from the Transfer Portal if he wants, as well.
Ohio State should have a solid recruiting class in 2027 when it's all said and done
Even if Hankton isn't able to close on Sales, the Buckeyes should still have a really solid 2027 recruiting class. They still have three five-star recruits committed in this class already. They are hoping to have David Gabriel Georges come into the class, as well.
Landing DDG would really give them the prospect they want the most in this class. He continues to be the recruit Ohio State has focused on the most. In the 2028 class, Ohio State has already had a solid start. The recruiting trail has really heated up for them over the past few weeks.
Ryan Day will continue to land these recruits as the rest of the summer continues on. He will likely be able to add some key players in the Fall, as well. There's always a chance that Ohio State flips a recruit, too, although that doesn't look likely at the quarterback spot.
Expect the Buckeyes to add at least five to nine more recruits in the 2027 recruiting class before Signing Day.
