The Ohio State football program is coming off a hot month of June on the recruiting trail. They added several commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, including a five-star defensive lineman in Marcus Fakatou. It was the best month of recruiting so far for the Buckeyes this season.

Cortez Hankton did his part in recruiting by adding a 2029 recruit. Austin Miller isn't ranked by the services yet, but there is a very good chance he ends up as the top-ranked receiver in that class. High school players in that class don't have a ranking yet, because it's so far away.

Hankton has done a great job since taking over for Brian Hartline on the recruiting trail. Now, he has landed his first five-star recruit on his own. He has landed the brother of Marvin Harrison Jr., as Jett Harrison has decided to commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Five-star receiver Jett Harrison commits to Ohio State

Harrison has officially pledged to sign with the Buckeyes. This was an expected move, as he has had a great relationship with the coaches since he was young. He got to see firsthand how Ryan Day treated his older brother, who is now an Ohio State football legend.

Harrison is rated as the second-best receiver in the 2028 recruiting class and the fourth-best player overall. He stands at 6'1 and 175 pounds, so he is smaller than his older brother. Yet, he is rated higher coming out of high school. That should scare other programs.

It's good to see Hankton able to close his own five-star recruit, even if he is the brother of a campus legend. This should help quell any fears that he might not be able to recruit at the same level that Brian Hartline was when he was in Columbus. So far, so good for Hankton.

Ohio State is cruising on the recruiting trail

The Buckeyes continue to cruise on the recruiting trail. This helps them start the month of July off with a bang. This might not even be the only recruit they land on the first day of July. They could end up landing Monsanna Torbert at the cornerback spot, as well.

If that happens, then Ohio State will officially be blazing-hot with momentum. This is a good month to get hot in, as they will start practice later this month. Day will have his staff start to get ready to put together game plans for the opponents they will be facing this season.

When Harrison gets to campus in a couple of years, he will be a prominent part of the offensive game plan for Day. While 2028 is some time to keep a recruit, it's highly unlikely that Harrison flips. His brother is celebrated, and he knows the Buckeyes can turn him into a first-round pick.

The Buckeyes are hoping Hankton can also bring in Monshun Sales, who is another five-star receiver recruit. That would certainly make things even sweeter and really help push the 2027 recruiting class over the top. For now, they will celebrate this win in the 2028 class.
