The Ohio State football team looked like it was going to lose all of its depth from the cornerback position when the Transfer Portal opened. After the terrible loss in the Cotton Bowl, several Buckeyes immediately entered the portal. Soon, Ohio State lost 30 total players to the portal.
Two of those players were at the cornerback position. Both Aaron Scott and Bryce West decided to head elsewhere to finish their collegiate careers. With them gone, the Ohio State Buckeyes were suddenly without much depth at corner, and they also lost Davison Igbinosun and Lorenzo Styles to the NFL Draft.
Ohio State added Earl Little Jr. to play some nickel for the Buckeyes. They have also added former Michigan and Alabama corner Cam Calhoun. Now, they have added another SEC cornerback to the room to replenish a position that a lot of Buckeye fans thought was decimated.
The Ohio State football team gets a commitment from fromer Georgia corner Dominick Kelly
The Buckeyes have been able to figure out a way to add to the room that seemed to be in shambles just a few days ago. They have added Georgia cornerback Dominick Kelly to the room, adding yet another cornerback to the room in recent days. Now, the room is seemingly stocked.
Kelly did not play much as a freshman this season with the Bulldogs, only recording three tackles. The Buckeyes are betting on his potential to grow into a potential lockdown cornerback. He will compete for playing time with Devin Sanchez and will likely rotate in with the defensive backs.
Ohio State will be able to trot out next season with some renewed confidence in the cornerbacks, even with so much talent gone from this past year's squad. This has been a very productive week for Ohio State using the Transfer Portal after they sat out much of the first week.
