The Ohio State football program continues to shed players from the 2025 team. After a terrible end to the season, losing consecutive games to Indiana and Miami, players from the Buckeyes have decided to enter the Transfer Portal. In fact, the Ohio State Buckeyes have lost double-digit players to the portal.
So far, the Buckeyes haven't lost anyone who made a significant impact on either of the last two years. Still, depth is now a significant concern at several spots on the field, including cornerback. Bryce West has entered the portal, and they are already losing Davison Igbinosun and Lorenzo Styles to the NFL.
West was a cornerback from the 2024 recruiting class. Aaron Scott was the other highly-touted corner in that class. In fact, he was the third-highest rated recruit in Ohio State's 2024 class. Now, Scott has decided to enter the Transfer Portal, as well.
Ohio State cornerback Aaron Scott enters the Transfer Portal
Scott is an in-state product, hailing from Springfield, Ohio. He was expected to compete for a starting cornerback spot next season. Instead, he has decided to enter the portal to seek playing time elsewhere. Injuries played a big role in Scott's story with the Buckeyes.
His inability to stay healthy in any season that he played with Ohio State is one of the biggest reasons why he is seeking a new opportunity elsewhere. This puts Ohio State in a bit of a pickle now. Only Miles Lockhart remains from that cornerback recruiting class.
Four cornerbacks will now be leaving this offseason from the roster. The depth at that spot is now a major concern heading into 2026. The Buckeyes are going to need to figure out a way to help the secondary by using the portal. They already have an interest in Koi Perich.
Adding some cornerbacks is something that Ryan Day and his staff need to make a higher priority than it was before the portal opened. Losing that number of corners is never a good thing, even if they weren't top-shelf talents.
