The Ohio State football program has had a busy first two weekends of official visits. Last weekend, the Buckeyes hosted multiple five-star recruits. This weekend, Ryan Day and his staff have nine prospects in Columbus. That includes three recruits who have yet to make a decision.
Day knows how to land the best recruits in the country. He is a very good recruiter, so the Ohio State Buckeyes always pull out all of the stops. For this weekend, they have paid particular attention to cornerback Jaden Carey, since they don't have any cornerback recruits in the 2027 class yet.
Carey is a four-star recruit who is down to choosing between Ohio State and Miami. Carey was in Miami last weekend for an official visit. This weekend, the Buckeyes have done a good job of making Carey feel at home, because some insiders believe he'll now sign with Ohio State.
Ohio State football team receives predictions to land Jaden Carey
After this weekend, the Buckeyes have received a couple of predictions to land Carey as a prospect. According to On3, Carey now has three different predictions to end up in Columbus. Based on that, it seems like the Buckeyes have him wrapped up after this weekend.
Carey stands at six feet and 175 pounds. He is someone who can really help on the inside as a slot corner but also rotate to the outside. If he does commit to Ohio State, he will have to fight for his playing time. Tim Walton has already brought in a lot of really good corners in the last few years.
The Buckeyes still have work to do. Up to this point, Carey has not committed to Ohio State. They will have to keep recruiting him even if he does, as Signing Day is still several months away. With NIL a big thing, the Buckeyes will need to keep a full-court press on him.
Recruiting will be Ohio State's top priority this month
This month, recruiting is going to be the biggest priority for the Buckeyes. This is where they can land several commitments for the 2027 class, which is the class they are most focused on. It would be surprising if Ohio State didn't add several recruits by the end of the month.
Of course, fans would love to get David Gabriel Georges more than any other recruit. The five-star running back recruit is an elite prospect and would really give the offense a boost. Marcus Fakatou would be a good recruit to get a commitment from this month, too.
Adding Carey would be good for Walton. He has a few other cornerbacks he's trying to land, but he needs to get at least one in this class. Multiple cornerbacks in a class is pretty much a requirement for Day, so Walton still has a lot of work to do on the recruiting trail.
It's clear that whatever Ohio State is doing with these prospects is working, so they just need to keep doing what they are doing.
