The Ohio State football program hosted some high-level recruits this past weekend. This was the first big recruiting weekend of the year. They ended up bringing in three five-star recruits to visit Columbus for the first weekend of official visits that were allowed.
With this being the case, the Buckeyes needed to be on their A-game. The most important recruit that was visiting this weekend was David Gabriel Georges. He is a five-star running back who is someone the Ohio State Buckeyes have been going after for quite a while.
Not only have they been trying to earn a commitment from him for a while, but they have been very aggressive when it comes to their recruitment of him. He has been at the top of their list for the last few months, and they made him feel like it on his visit. Now, he's giving Ohio State a glowing review.
David Gabriel Georges gives a great review of Ohio State visit
After his visit concluded, he spoke with Rivals. He seemed to really like what the Buckeyes had to offer him and how they viewed him not just as a player, but as a person, too.
“They really want me to be a Buckeye. They not only want to develop me as a football player, but as a man.”
Ohio State has made it clear over the years that they care about not just the type of player that these elite recruits will become, but also what kind of people they will become. That has been one of the pillars that Ryan Day has used in his recruiting pitches since he became a head coach.
That's part of the reason why the Buckeyes have now received another prediction to land Gabriel Georges. He is rated as the best running back in the country, so Day is pulling out all of the stops to land him. They clearly view him as a generational running back.
What the RB depth chart could look like if Ohio State lands David Gabriel Georges
If Ohio State is able to make Gabriel Georges a member of its 2027 recruiting class, the running back depth chart would look pretty great. Right now, Bo Jackson is the starting running back. He will be a sophomore this season and would be a junior next year. He would likely still be the starter.
However, Gabriel Georges would immediately become the backup and would get a ton of snaps. It would likely be a similar situation to what Ohio State had with TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. Both running backs would get a ton of snaps and get plenty of opportunities to gobble up some yards on the ground.
There is still plenty of work to be done for the Buckeyes to actually get a commitment from the top-rated running back in the country. This is just the first official visit that he has scheduled. They will need to keep reminding him how great he is while he's on other campuses.
