Another day, another new commitment for the Ohio State football team? You better believe it. On Thursday, the Buckeyes and head man Ryan Day were able to pull off the flip of 4-star cornerback Jay Timmons and more good news has arrived to start the weekend.
Ohio State steals elite cornerback commit from Florida State
On Friday, offensive lineman Mason Wilhelm decided that he also wants to play his college ball in Columbus. Wilhelm, a 6-4, 285-pounder, had been committed to North Carolina and head man Bill Belichick since June 1. However, he has decided to back off that pledge and give the Buckeyes his verbal instead.

Ohio State legacy Mason Wilhelm has flipped from North Carolina to the Buckeyes
This is the news that a lot of people were hoping for. While Wilhelm may only be a 3-star prospect, he's the son of former Buckeyes' linebacker Matt Wilhelm. Wilhelm is also a force as an interior lineman and as soon as Day put an offer on the table for him, it didn't take long for him to realize he wants to play for OSU at the next level.
According to the 247Sports Composite, he's ranked the No. 101 interior lineman in the country for the 2026 class. In addition to UNC and Ohio State, the new Ohio State commit held additional offers from Baylor, Maryland, Pitt, Syracuse and many others.
With Wilhelm and Timmons now on board for the Buckeyes, Ohio State holds 23 known commitments for the 2026 class. Could some more flips be on the way in the near future too? Last weekend, Penn State OL commit Kevin Brown was in Columbus, as was 4-star Tennessee commit Legend Bey.
The expectation is that Ohio State will continue to push hard for both of those players. For now, Day and his coaching staff can celebrate the big recruiting news this week, as it has been an exciting past couple of days for the No. 1 Buckeyes as a whole.
