The Ohio State football program continues its march on the recruiting trail for the 2026 class. They have been stuck at ninth in the recruiting rankings for quite a while now, but they are hoping to change that with some late pushes. They have already flipped a couple of recruits.
Tim Walton has been busy trying to flip some cornerbacks for the Buckeyes. It looks like he was able to get a win with one of them, getting four-star cornerback Jay Timmons to flip his commitment from Florida State. Timmons had been committed to the Seminoles since June.

The Ohio State Buckeyes offered Timmons in September and also brought him on campus for a visit. From there, it was all but certain that Timmons was going to flip his recruitment, especially with Florida State struggling since beating Alabama early in the season.

Adding Timmons gives the Buckeyes three cornerbacks for the 2026 class, alongside Jordan Thomas and Khmari Bing. Timmons is 5'11 and 185 pounds, and is full of potential. He's a physical player who doesn't mind bringing the boom in the run game or breaking up passes.
Timmons has good ball skills, so he is someone the Buckeyes will be able to rely on in coverage. He's a player that Ohio State has been pushing hard to flip over the last few weeks. Ryan Day has been comfortable with what Walton has been doing, and now he's been rewarded.
This will not be the last recruit that Ohio State is going to be able to flip. They have a list of guys they are trying to get to change their minds, including Kevin Brown, who just visited during the Penn State game. Ohio State is going to be frantic getting recruits to flip in the last month or so.
There's a shot that Ohio State has a couple of guys flip from their own class, but they aren't too worried about it. This is only the beginning for them when it comes to adding recruits before Signing Day.
