The top recruit in the 2027 recruiting class for the Ohio State Buckeyes is DJ Jacobs. He has been locked in with the Buckeyes since December. Despite that fact, multiple programs have tried to flip Jacobs, including Oregon. Although that might not work after they lost to Oklahoma State.
Jacobs and his entire family were in the Shoe for Week 1 against Ball State. He seems to be very committed to Ohio State. However, some fans were concerned after he visited Georgia over the weekend. Now, they can breathe easy, as he wasn't there for himself.

Jacobs was in Athens while his younger brother Dawson was on a visit. Based on what Trevor Michael of Dawn of the Dawg believes, Ohio State should feel good about its chances of holding on to the best edge recruit in the country.
"Maybe Georgia will make up more ground in the coming months, but for now, no one should count on Jacobs flipping to UGA as he still looks locked in with the Buckeyes," Michael wrote.
Jacobs has had countless examples of showing that he is not going to be anywhere other than Columbus next season. Despite multiple other programs trying to woo him with higher NIL offers, he still believes that Larry Johnson is the best coach to develop him into a first-round draft pick.
Not only will Jacobs have that opportunity, but he will be able to compete for a national championship while playing for the Buckeyes. NIL is certainly a factor in his recruitment, but it's pretty clear that it isn't the only factor. That's the perfect kind of player for Ryan Day.
Dawon Jacobs has taken a couple of visits to Columbus, too. There is a chance that he ends up wanting to follow DJ to Columbus, but that remains to be seen. Dawson is part of the 2028 recruiting class. He is a solid player, but he's not a blue-chip prospect like his older brother.
Ohio State has shifted most of its focus to the 2028 recruiting class
As it stands right now, most of Ohio State's 2027 recruiting class is settled. There aren't really any guys out there who are uncommitted that they are looking at. However, they are looking at flipping a four-star running back who is committed to Florida State at the moment.
In the 2028 class, Ohio State has started to stack up commits. They already have three five-star recruits in that class, and it should continue to get better as time goes on. There will be some prospects who visit later in the year for some games that will help Ohio State keep the momentum on the recruiting trail.
Day is more focused on getting his team to finish games after what happened in Austin. The offense shut down in the second half, and he wants to make sure the team plays better against Kent State. That shouldn't be an issue, but beating better teams later in the year is more questionable.
