The Ohio State football program has one of the most iconic uniforms in college football history. They have changed so little over the years that generations of fans can instantly identify them from just a little piece of the uniform. The Buckeyes haven't changed the uniforms much because they are so good already.

Earlier this week, the Ohio State Buckeyes unveiled that they had added the gray sleeves back to their normal uniforms. That was the last piece missing to truly make the uniforms perfect. Now that they are back, Ohio State's uniforms are back to being among the best in the sport.

Of course, Ohio State also unveiled black alternate uniforms, as well. They will be wearing those at some point this season, although it's unclear when that will happen. Now, Ohio State has introduced two more alternate uniforms that they will be wearing in 2026.

Ohio State introduces two new alternate uniforms

In the past, Ohio State has also had an all-scarlet uniform and an all-white uniform. They have now brought those uniforms back this season with the gray sleeves added in. They fully announced the uniforms on social media, to much fanfare.

Personally, I'm partial to the all-scarlet uniforms. The gray stripe down the side of the leg really puts that alternate uniform at another level. Those are my favorite of the three alternate uniforms that the Buckeyes have busted out for this season. Ohio State will now have to find three games this season to wear different uniforms.

Ohio State did this just to sell jerseys to fans to help make more money. That is the only reason why any team creates alternate uniforms in any sport. However, adding the gray sleeves to all of them makes that fact a little bit better. Fans are very excited about the addition of the new uniforms.

The Ohio State football team needs to figure out which games to bust out these uniforms

There is a good chance that the Scarlet Rush uniforms will be worn when Oregon comes to town in November. Typically, the Buckeyes like to wear these uniforms during marquee games when a lot of fans are watching. That home game will be the best game in which they can accomplish that feat.

For the Sub-Zero uniforms, Ohio State could opt to wear those when they travel to Bloomington. That game against the defending national champions will certainly have a lot of eyeballs on it, as that game could decide who is going to win the Big Ten Conference.

As for the black uniforms, that will come in whatever home night game they are able to get. Had the Oregon game been chosen as a night game, that would have been the perfect game for them. Instead, it will likely come against an inferior Big Ten opponent.

As long as none of these uniforms are used for The Game, things will be fine. That game should be preserved for classic uniforms for both the Buckeyes and TTUN.
