The Ohio State football program used to have one of the best uniforms in the country. The helmet is still iconic, and the Buckeye leaves are the best helmet stickers for any team. Quite frankly, the Buckeyes have upper-tier uniforms and have for quite some time.

One big thing that has kept them from being the best is having them get rid of the gray sleeves. When the gray sleeves were on the uniform, it looked so much better. The Ohio State Buckeyes wear scarlet and gray, and there was hardly any gray in the top half of the uniform.

Ohio State released alternate black jerseys with gray sleeves on them. That was clearly a hint that they were going to update the current uniforms with gray sleeves, as well. On Wednesday morning, the Buckeyes unveiled the updated uniforms with gray sleeves.

The Ohio State football program finally listens to their fans by giving them what they want

The Buckeyes put out photos of the new uniform on social media. They also had a video release, as well. Now that the sleeves are there, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the uniforms. They could not be better. It's refreshing for Ross Bjork to actually listen to fans for once.

Bjork took away a beloved game day tradition last season. He refuses to increase the budget to help spend NIL money to land elite recruits. He moved the band from the south stands in favor of luxury seating. Yet, this is a rare win for Bjork when it comes to the football program.

Fans have been clamoring for the sleeves to come back for years. Gene Smith refused to bring them back on a full-time basis for whatever reason. Now, Bjork finally has something that fans can be happy with. Now, fans want a team that matches the elitism of the uniforms.

The Ohio State football team should never wear alternate uniforms

While alternate uniforms are cool for recruiting and for some younger fans, the Buckeyes are one of the rare teams that should never wear them. With this addition to the uniform, they have the best uniforms in college football. Under no circumstances should they wear anything else.

I did like the all scarlet uniforms that the Buckeyes donned a couple of years ago, but it's rare that I find any alternate uniforms that match what the normal ones do. Ohio State is an iconic brand with an iconic set of uniforms. Why do they need to change that for any reason?

Ohio State fans will get their first look at the new uniforms in Week 1 against Ball State. They will wear the road uniforms for the first time in Week 2 against Texas, so that means we will get to look at both sets of new uniforms very early in the season.

Perhaps if fans roar loud enough, Bjork will start to listen to them about other means of business. Fans know what they want, and Ohio State fans pay the bills for Bjork.
