Oh, how quickly things can change when it comes to recruiting. Earlier this week, the word around Ohio State football circles was that it was time to start worrying about offensive tackle commit Aaron Thomas. Could he have one foot out the door?
A report surfaced stating that Thomas was planning to visit Florida State, where his father played, for the home game against Miami. As soon as that update arrived, the belief was that maybe, just maybe Thomas would decide to flip from the Buckeyes to FSU in order to play for his dad's old squad.
Nope, that's not going to happen. Shortly after people were losing their minds on Twitter, Thomas posted on social media to let the Ohio State faithful know there's nothing to see here. He's fully locked in with Ohio State and he'll be making things official with the program during the Early Signing Period:
That’s 🧢 #GoBucks

Ohio State OT commit Aaron Thomas is 100 percent locked in with Ryan Day
That's a relief. For a second there, it truly did seem like Thomas was going to give Mike Norvell and the Seminoles a closer look. Again, though, that won't be the case. Thomas committed to Ohio State back on June 25, doing so over more than 20 other programs. He's picked up 29 tenders this cycle.
The 6-7, 300-pounder took his official visit to Columbus on May 30. That wasn't his only trip, as he also met on campus with the staffs at Washington, Florida State and Texas A&M. In the end, playing for the reigning national champs was something he didn't want to pass up on.
Sure, playing for FSU just like his old man was likely something that he seriously thought about, but when Ryan Day comes calling, it's hard to pass up on the opportunity to play for him in the Big Ten. According to the 247Sports Composite, the future Buckeye is ranked three stars, the No. 45 OT in the country and No. 7 prospect out of Arizona for his class.
Thomas is one of 21 known commits Day has on board, which has OSU No. 9 in the country per the 247Sports rankings. Thomas may not be a four or five-star recruit, but the coaches are high on his game and they think he can turn into a starter at the next level. He'll be looking to develop into a college starter at Ohio State and not Florida State too.
