The Ohio State football team has been practicing for a few days now as they prepare to start the 2025 season as defending national champions. Unfortunately, they got some bad news on day one when they had a critical defensive lineman go down with an injury.

During that practice, Eddrick Houston went down with a knee injury. It was so bad that he was carried off the field and did not return. Luckily, he was back on the field the next day, although he was not participating in any of the team drills. He was off to the side, doing individual work.

Houston is a projected starter on the defensive line, so losing him for any amount of time would be a massive issue. That's especially true considering the Buckeyes are losing their entire starting defensive line from last year. Ryan Day gave an encouraging update on Houston's health on Tuesday.

After practice on Tuesday, Day mentioned that Houston should be back on the field and cleared to do team drills very soon.

"We think he's going to be involved in team drills in the next 48 hours or so. If not tomorrow, then the day after."

That's great news to hear after he suffered a non-contact knee injury. Usually, those can be pretty scary to deal with. Houston looks like he was lucky enough not to suffer anything significant. He should be ready to go here soon, which means he's definitely going to be ready for the regular season.

The Ohio State Buckeyes need their guys up front to be healthy right out of the chute, with the Longhorns having revenge on their mind after what happened in the Cotton Bowl. Houston is a big part of that in the interior of the defensive line.
