Fresh off a bye, the Ohio State football team is ready to take on Washington this weekend, but as is always the case, fans continue to keep a close eye on the recruiting trail. Some bad news arrived for Dan Lanning and the Ducks, but could it result in major news for the Buckeyes down the road?
Angelo Smith, the younger brother of Jeremiah Smith, commits to Ohio State football
Last week, 5-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman announced that he was backing off his Oregon pledge. While in-state Tennessee appears to be a major player for him, Ohio State is also in the mix here. It helps Ryan Day and Co. that 2027 quarterback commit Brady Edmunds is also working in helping try to land him:

Ohio State football target Kesean Bowman is no longer Oregon-bound
Bowman committed to Oregon this summer, but Ducks fans were concerned when he started lining up other visits. He was at Tennessee for the Georgia game and then he returned to Knoxville this past weekend right after he opened up his recruitment.
With Bowman being a standout for the Brentford Academy in Tennessee, three hours away from the UT campus, the Vols are surely a team to keep an eye on. However, Ohio State is definitely going to be in the hunt until he makes his new decision.
The expectation is that Bowman is going to take his time with things and not rush into picking a new school. With that said, Ohio State and Day should probably work quickly to get him on campus for a visit this fall - we all know what kind of a difference a game day in Columbus can make for a prospect.
According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-1, 175-pounder is ranked five stars, the No. 6 WR in the country and the No. 36 prospect overall for the '27 class. The Buckeyes hold three known pledges for '27 in QB Edmunds, 5-star wideout Jamier Brown and defensive back Angelo Smith, the younger brother of Jeremiah Smith.
Day and his staff are focused on closing out the '26 haul with a bang, with the list of course including 5-star WR Chris Henry Jr. Despite that, Ohio State is still putting in serious work with 2027 playmakers and now that Bowman is wide open with his process again, the Buckeyes should no question make him a top priority.
