The Ohio State football program has been very busy on the recruiting trail this week during the bye week. With no game being played, the Buckeyes were able to focus more on the recruiting trail. They are hoping to make their 2026 class better, but they have already started bringing in commits for the 2027 class, as well.

The Ohio State Buckeyes already have the best player in college football on the roster in Jeremiah Smith. Smith is the preeminent receiver in the country, and he has already shown that he is even better than he was last season, something that has been bad for the other teams they've played.

Smith's little brother has been keeping his eye on the Buckeyes, as well. Angelo Smith is a three-star safety recruit from Florida. He made his collegiate decision on Sunday night, choosing to commit to the Buckeyes and play with his brother for a year.

Smith stands at 5'10 and just 170 pounds, but he will certainly put on weight when he gets to Columbus. He is very athletic, although he's not nearly as good as his brother is. Still, there's something there in Smith. He has a chane to be a solid player at the next level.

Ohio State now has two commits for the 2027 class. They also have five-star receiver recruit Jamier Brown as part of that class, but that will be a class that gets built more next spring. Right now, it's just good for the Buckeyes to land the brother of a current player and keep him happy.

This also reduces the chances that Jeremiah Smith would be swayed by NIL money from elsewhere and leave the Buckeyes. Not that that would ever happen, of course. The Buckeyes will pay Smith pretty much any amount of money he wants.
