Ohio State can fully embarrass Dan Lanning by flipping 5-star Oregon commit

With all this wild college football realignment, Ohio State and Oregon becoming Big Ten rivals sure is fun. The two teams went 1-1 against one another last year, with Ducks fans wanting to forget about the Rose Bowl. Now, Ryan Day is looking to take down Dan Lanning once again.

This time around it's for 5-star EDGE Richard Wesley, who recently committed to Oregon. Lanning made countless headlines after he jumped in a pool with the youngster. It had 'cringe' written all over it. There's a new twist to Wesley's recruitment, as he has locked in other official visits, including one with Ohio State on Aug. 30:

5-star EDGE Richard Wesley will visit Ohio State for the Texas game

The season-opener just got a lot more interesting for the Buckeyes. Come Aug. 30, the Buckeyes will be hosting Texas and Arch Manning for what's easily going to be the best Week 1 game of the weekend. Things are now made better with Wesley being in town.

Wesley was originally going to be a class of 2027 product, but he decided to reclassify to 2026. He's ranked five stars, the No. 2 EDGE in the country, No. 3 player from California and No. 14 prospect nationally per the 247Sports Composite.

He originally chose Oregon over Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and many others. However, less than three weeks after he gave Lanning his verbal, he is now planning on taking the three other officials, with the Buckeyes, Longhorns and Aggies set to host him.

We don't have to tell you that the atmosphere on campus for the Ohio State vs. Texas showdown is going to be absolutely incredible. Wesley surely won't be the only big-name target the Buckeyes will be bringing in as well. There's still a long way to go until the Early Signing Period in December, but a potential flip by Ohio State would be a huge blow for Lanning and the Ducks. It's also something the OSU faithful would love to see.
