The Ohio State football program is still trying to round out its 2026 class. Right now, the class is about half full. They only have 13 commitments thus far. They are still hoping to land a few really good prospects that still have to make official visits to Columbus.
Not only are the Buckeyes trying to land recruits who haven't committed to the Buckeyes yet, but they are also trying to steal some recruits who have already made a decision. Ohio State doesn't usuallu flip a lot of recruits, but they are hoping to flip one five-star prospect.
That is five-star edge player Richard Wesley. Wesley is from Southern California and decided to commit to Oregon at the beginning of the month. Even though he made that choice, he has decided to keep taking official visits to other schools. Ohio State is one of those schools.

Wesley has decided to keep taking official visits to other schools that he had on his list. He will visit the Ohio State Buckeyes on August 30th for the second time. He just visited on April 5th, so he is very clear on what the Buckeyes can offer him moving.
Ohio State might not be able to offer the kind of NIL money that Oregon can, so if that is a big factor, the Ohio State Buckeyes are out. If he wants to be developed and win a lot of games, he might reconsider his decision and choose the Buckeyes instead.
Wesley is one of the best edge guys in the country, so he would certainly help the Ohio State pass rush. He would certainly be able to help the team. Matt Patricia might have to do more of the recruiting since it seems like Larry Johnson is not recruiting as hard.
Landing Wesley would be a huge thing for this recruiting class. It would also poach a five-star recruit from a rival Big Ten team.
