There shouldn't be any questions about how serious Ohio State is about five-star running back David Gabriel Georges and if there were, Carlos Locklyn was willing to cross borders to answer them.

'Coach Lock' headed to Canada to hang out with Gabriel Georges and his family as the Buckeyes try to close in on the commitment of the backfield prospect that many consider the best in the class of 2027.

Gabriel Georges plays football in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but he is originally from Terrebonne, Quebec, a city about 30 minutes away from Montreal.

Ryan Day is going the extra mile for RB David Gabriel Georges

Ryan Day and the Buckeyes staff have made it no secret that they covet Gabriel Georges and believe that he can be the next great running back to come through Columbus. The resume, however, gives a lot of credence to that belief. Gabriel Georges was not only named a MaxPreps All-American, a rare honor for a junior, but the website also named him the National Prep Player of the Year. That was on top of Rivals naming him the Tennessee Prep Football Player of the Year.

With those sorts of accolades, it's no surprise that every top program wants to get in on Gabriel Georges' recruitment, but right now it looks like a race between the Buckeyes and Tennessee. Obviously, the Vols have a location advantage, and it's one that Josh Heupel and his staff have exercised several times to see the talented back.

But while the guys from Knoxville were going south, Locklyn made the decision to go north and the Buckeyes staff hope that the visit and message could be the difference when it comes time for Gabriel Georges to make a final decision. He is expected to take official visits to both schools this summer.

Ohio State has been rolling on the trail and already has a top five class for the 2027 recruiting cycle with nine commitments. If Gabriel Georges chooses the Buckeyes, he would be the second five-star player in the class, joining edge rusher DJ Jacobs.
