When it comes to 2027 prospects, there's no doubt that Ohio State and Ryan Day are ready to do whatever it takes to land 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges. The speedster is one of the top playmakers out there and Ohio State has him high on its list.

For a little while now, the assumption has been that this is going to end up being a two-team battle between the Buckeyes and Tennessee - the Vols have also made him a priority since DGG suits up for The Baylor School in Chattanooga.
Has either side been able to separate itself a little? Per Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, that seems to be the case, as he thinks Ohio State is in the lead right now. Things are far from set in stone here, but could the electric playmaker be ready to shut things down at some point this spring?
Ohio State football appears to be in the lead for 5-star RB David Gabriel Georges
Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn has been helping run point on the youngster's recruitment, with the two building quite the relationship. That's helping the Buckeyes, but that doesn't mean things are even close to being in the clear right now.
Josh Heupel is also putting on a full-court press on Gabriel Georges. Heupel has made several trips to The Baylor School in the last year and it also helps Tennessee that the Vols just signed 5-star tackle Gabriel Osenda as a part of the 2026 class.
The UT staff is hoping Osenda can help with the recruiting efforts, but from the outside looking in, it seems like the Vols, for now, have some chasing to do. Gabriel Georges, ranked five stars and the No. 2 running back in the country, has picked up 31 offers this cycle.
Other teams are still pushing to land him, but Ohio State and Tennessee are the presumed leaders. And with that, the Buckeyes know what it's going to take to land his services. A return trip to Columbus is in the works, as Day knows Gabriel Georges is the kind of prospect he can't let slip away.
