The Ohio State football program had the best possible start to last season. Starting 12-0 and beating TTUN was a great way for the Buckeyes to begin their season. Of course, they finished in the worst possible way, losing to both Indiana and Miami in their final two games.
Julian Sayin had a stellar year in his first year as a starter. Sayin was a Heisman Finalist and should be even better this season. Still, Sayin understands how much fans expect of him in Columbus. He knows that no one is happy unless all three preseason goals are accomplished.
Sayin has been made available quite often in the offseason. Most recently, he spoke to On3 about how last year finished and what the expectations are. In fact, his quote should be music to fans' ears, as it's clear he understands the expectations that fans have.
Ohio State QB Julian Sayin knows the Buckeyes failed last season
While speaking to Chris Low of On3, Sayin knows that he could have done better at the end of the year.
"We want to put another one of these banners up. The standard at Ohio State is to win every game."
Sayin also acknowledged that beating TTUN was something that had to get done last year after they failed to beat the Wolverines in each of the previous four years. While that was a good win, the Ohio State Buckeyes need to be winning conference championships and national championships, as well.
Ohio State is expected to be one of the favorites this season again, although they have a much tougher schedule coming up. This year, it will be much harder to start out 12-0. Ohio State fans can forgive that as long as they beat TTUN, win the Big Ten, and win a national championship.
Sayin knows he has things that he can improve on to help those goals happen, as well. He has been hard at work all offseason trying to get that done.
