The Ohio State football program is not afraid to pay its own players. Players who have given them proven production will be properly taken care of. Paying big-time recruits is where they start to balk, although that might be changing with DJ Jacobs.

Regardless, the best players on the Ohio State Buckeyes are taken care of. That includes stud receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith has publicly mentioned how many times other programs have tried to tamper with him. He essentially flat-out said Miami has done that many times.

What he hasn't said before is how much money those other programs were trying to pay him to sway him to transfer. While speaking to ON3, Smith let everyone know that he turned down an insane amount of money to stay with the Buckeyes for his entire career.

Ohio State WR turns down $10 million to stay with the Buckeyes

Smith claims that he could have had at least $10 million had he left Ohio State for another program.

"Over $10 million, easy."

When asked why he decided to stay with the Buckeyes, Smith's answer was simple.

"I came to Ohio State for a reason, to win championships, develop as a player and a person, and keep building on this legacy."

Smith understands that Ohio State gives him more than just instant gratification when it comes to money. He understands that Ohio State prepares him for the next level in a way that other programs cannot. There is a reason why so many Ohio State receivers sign massive deals in the NFL.

$10 million is an insane amount of money to pay one player. Had he left, for that program, that would have taken up a minimum of 25 percent of that program's NIL budget. Instead, he stayed with the Buckeyes to win another national championship before he heads off to make a lot of money in the NFL.

Heading into next season, the Buckeyes feel great about their chances of bouncing back with another national title after a disappointing finish to last year.
