The Ohio State football program has had to fend off several programs from tampering with its guys over the last few years. With no real penalties in place, programs from across the country have tried to steal players from other teams. It's a big conversation among coaching staffs.
Of course, the Buckeyes are very protective of the players they have on the roster. That's especially true of their best players, such as Jeremiah Smith. Smith has been tampered with many times over the years. When someone is that good, that's what happens in today's day and age.
Smith has always stiff-armed other programs to stay loyal to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Now, he's calling out a prominent program that tampered with him this offseason, even though he won't call them out by name.
Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith implies tampering from Miami
While speaking to the media after spring practice, Smith implied that Miami tried to tamper with him in a big way after losing the national championship to Indiana. When asked if he was surprised, he started throwing the Hurricanes under the bus.
"No, I wasn't surprised. I knew, especially at the end of that game (Cotton Bowl), that a certain program was going to come at me very hard. But I'm not going to say no names. I think everybody here knows who it was. But I wasn't going nowhere."
Miami fans have begged Smith to come to the Hurricanes for years. Yet, he knows that Ohio State is the best place for him to be. He has stayed in Columbus for two years and has accomplished a lot. He wants his third and final year to be the best one yet.
Ohio State would love to win another national championship next season, taking out Miami in the process. Getting revenge is something on their minds, for sure. Of course, the Buckeyes still have to navigate an incredibly tough schedule to make the College Football Playoff first.
