Yup, it's safe to say Ohio State football is on a tear, with 4-star cornerback Jordan Thomas giving Ryan Day and Co. the news they wanted on Monday. In case you missed it, the Bergen Catholic (New Jersey) standout is Columbus-bound as a member of the 2026 class. Boom.

Thomas was pretty fired up when he announced his decision live with On3 from North Jersey. So, what was it that sent Ohio State over the top over his other finalists, including Michigan, Notre Dame and others? The coaching staff played a huge role, no question. However, Thomas also noted the opportunity to practice with some of the best players out there opened his eyes. The list of course includes phenom WR Jeremiah Smith.

Ohio State commit Jordan Thomas is excited to go up against Jeremiah Smith in practices

“I would say to go to Ohio State and compete with some of the best athletes in the nation - I want to be the best,” Thomas said while speaking with On3. “That’s somewhere I would love to compete against Jeremiah Smith, Chris Henry Jr., my former teammate Quincy Porter. Iron sharpens iron. There’s no better place to be than Ohio State.”

If Thomas indeed wants to face off against some of the top talent in the country, Ohio State sure is the place for him. In addition to Smith, he mentioned former Bergen Catholic standout Quincy Porter, a 5-star playmaker who just signed with the Buckeyes as a member of their 2025 class.

He of course brought up Chris Henry Jr., another 5-star wideout for Ohio State who will be making his way to campus with Thomas once '26 gets here. Thomas and Henry are part of an already loaded Ohio State group, which is currently ranked No. 3 in the country according to 247Sports.

Throughout his recruitment, Thomas picked up more than 40 offers. He's a Top 20 cornerback nationally and one of the best players from New Jersey for his class. All in all, this was a monster get for the Buckeyes and one that fans continue to be pretty fired up about - and rightfully so.
