The Ohio State football program continues to recruit at a strong rate. Ryan Day has tried to keep his recruiting at a high level coming off a national championship, and he has done just that. Heading into Monday, the Buckeyes had the third-best recruiting class in the country.
Day was hoping to be able to add a dynamic cornerback to his 2026 recruiting class on Monday afternoon. Jordan Thomas, a four-star cornerback from New Jersey, made his recruiting decision on Monday. He was choosing between Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Michigan.
Tim Walton and his group did enough to land the commitment. The four-star cornerback decided to choose the Ohio State Buckeyes over those other two programs, giving the Buckeyes a dynamic cornerback who can really help out the secondary.
The Ohio State football team lands four-star corner Jordan Thomas
Thomas is 6'1 and 185 pounds, but he plays bigger than that. He is a physical corner who plays exactly the way Walton wants him to play. Matt Patricia clearly likes him as well, and he will fit right into a group that is very talented. The secondary group at Ohio State is very talented.
The Buckeyes now have 13 commits for the 2026 recruiting class. Thomas becomes the second cornerback in the class, but he won't be the last one that Ohio State brings in. They are still looking at landing a few other recruits at the corner spot to further bolster the roster.
Winning the national championship has clearly helped the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail. Only half of their recruiting class is filled at this point, and they still have the third-best class in the country. That ranking should only go up as they continue to bring in elite recruits over the summer.
Thomas continues a long line of Buckeyes who have come in from the state of New Jersey. Ohio State has a very prolific pipeline in that state, and that doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. They love getting talent from the Northeast, particularly New Jersey. Thomas is hoping to live up to some of the other greats from that state to play for the Scarlet and Gray.
