The first Ohio State football recruit in the class of 2026 was Chris Henry Jr. Henry Jr. committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes back in July of 2023, so it has been almost a year in a half. He is a five-star recruit and is rated as the second-best wide receiver recruit in the country.
Henry Jr. loves what Brian Hartline has been able to do with receivers in the past. His promotion to offensive coordinator should only further develop receivers in both the passing game and their blocking in the run game. He clearly loves Ryan Day, too.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have been able to keep Henry Jr. as a recruit for quite a long time. He had other visits scheduled for Oregon, USC, and Miami. On Tuesday, he decided to shut down his recruitment and locked in his commitment with the Buckeyes.

As of right now, it looks like the Buckeyes will keep ahold of him. Of course, there is still a lot of time until Henry Jr. has to sign with the Buckeyes. There's always a chance that someone comes in off the top rope and offers him a huge bag of NIL money to sign with them.
Still, Henry Jr. seems to love what the Buckeyes can offer him. He loves what they offer him in terms of development, NIL, and how good the Buckeyes are as a team. Ohio State has a track record of developing the best receivers in the country and having them succeed in the NFL.
Coming off a national championship, it's a little easier to get recruits to shut down their recruitment to come play for a historic program. He is a really good recruit who should be one of the best players in the country in no time. That should be the case no matter who his quarterback is.
