Thus far for the 2027 cycle, there's no question that Ryan Day and Ohio State have been doing serious work in landing top targets. Well, there's one playmaker in particular the OSU faithful are hoping Day can reel in sooner rather than later: running back David Gabriel Georges.
Ryan Day clearly was not happy with teams trying to steal Jeremiah Smith away
Just recently, the electric speedster officially trimmed down his list to a final four, with Ohio State, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Georgia still in contention for his verbal. It's an SEC battle for Day and Co., but while DGG is down to four schools, it has become pretty dang clear that the Vols are the Buckeyes' main competition for this one.

Ohio State and Tennessee are the presumed leaders for RB David Gabriel Georges
Taking a look online, Tennessee supporters are hoping Josh Heupel and Danny White go ALL-IN to land the in-state playmaker. Georges is a superstar for the Baylor School in Chattanooga, with Heupel and his staff taking several trips to campus to target the speedster.
Not only that, but Tennessee just signed 5-star offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda from the Baylor School and you better believe he's in Georges' ear to try and get him to commit as well. Georges recently took an unofficial visit to Knoxville too and all signs point to that trip going quite well.
Despite that, Day and the Buckeyes have made him a priority and an official visit to Columbus is coming next month. Ohio State will have the first opportunity to impress the 6-0, 205-pounder during his OV tour, as he'll be in town on May 29.
After that, Georges will head to Tennessee on June 5, Ole Miss on June 12 and then he's going to wrap things up on June 19 at Georgia. After that, the expectation is that he's going to return home and talk things over with his family before making a final decision.
Per the 247Sports Composite, the youngster is ranked five stars, the No. 2 running back in the country and No. 10 player overall for the '27 class. He'd be a 'dream' get for the Buckeyes, but Tennessee is going to do everything possible to keep him in the Volunteer State instead.
