Future Ohio State RB 'committed until the wheels fall off' ends any flip worries

While flip worries continue to surround some big-name Ohio State commits, of course including 5-star pass-rusher DJ Jacobs, it looks like Ryan Day has nothing to worry about with Elijah Newman-Hall. A 4-star running back commit for the 2028 class, the speedster continues to hear from several programs, including Miami.

Mario Cristobal trying to be a thorn in Day's side is nothing new, but Newman-Hall is making it quite clear that his future will be in Columbus. Thanks to a new update from 247Sports reporter Zach Blostein, we've been given an inside look at Newman-Hall's status as a Buckeyes pledge, with nothing going to change his mind down the road:

"I'm committed," Newman-Hall said in a recent interview with Blostein. "I'm staying committed until the wheels fall off. I'm going to the end all the way until my senior day when I sign the papers."

It's understandable as to why other programs, including the Canes, would be ready to work overtime in trying to get Newman-Hall to change his mind. According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot, 215-pounder from Bradenton, Fla. is ranked the No. 3 running back in the country, No. 7 player out of Florida, and No. 63 prospect nationally for the '28 haul.

Despite getting ready for his junior year of high school, Newman-Hall has racked up 20 offers, with Ohio State, Miami, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, and many others on his list. He was an incredibly early pledge to the Buckeyes, shutting down his recruitment in July 2025. Day saw just how talented he was, getting things done in stunning fashion.

With that, the expectation was that Ohio State would potentially have its hands full in trying to keep him on board for so long. We've already mentioned Miami several times, but you've got to imagine it eats at Cristobal knowing that such a talented in-state playmaker is heading north to Columbus, which is why the contact hasn't stopped there.

Still, these latest comments from Newton-Hall are quite eye-opening, and it should give the Ohio State faithful plenty of confidence that the youngster is going to stick to his word and sign with the Buckeyes when he's able to do so. That won't happen until the Early Signing Period for his class in December 2027, giving other teams more than enough time to work their magic.

Again, with Newton-Hall being all aboard the Ohio State train, it's time for other staffs to back off and realize the Big Ten will be next for the Florida product. Sure, anything can happen in recruiting, but Newton-Hall seems as locked in as possible and that's great news for the Buckeyes.
